I love to paint animals. Dogs, cats, birds, horses or anything that would spring to mind. Heres a selection for the viewer to look at. Some of them have been commissions, some of them out of passion and some of them are for sale too. If I could get my eye on more exotic animals then I would paint them too.
enjoy.
THE HANOVERIAN, 1994.

Size 20" X 16"
The Hanoverian (German breed, Dressage) was painted in 1994 in oils. Particular attention to detail has been had here. The rhododendrons in the background was palette knife work whilst the animal itself was fine brushed with glaze pigment.
This is what I can achieve in oils with these creatures (or any creature realy) It's not perfect, but nothing realy is is it. This is probably the best horse profile painting I have done to date, although my other equine subjects are still loved not only by me but by others.
For commissions please feel free to contact me. TEL: mark 02392713343.
Don't forget an oil painting has something a photograph or a poster doesn't have!! and that's a sense of depth made up from the texture of the paintwork. A photograph apears 'flat', even when it has depth!
THE LAME HORSE, early 90's.

SIZE 20" X 16"
SOLD
The lame horse was my first ever horse oil. Captured in Bedhampton, by the waterworks fields.
Notice that the willow tree has been nibled flat (away from it's droop) by the horse. Background and foreground palette knife. Horse painted with brush.
LUCKY, the Jack Russell.
painted in 2003

Cat: No 20
Descript: I observed this little dog in Hambledon on a patch of land as you see it. Painted on stretch canvas I wanted to make a rough impression of the background and foreground grasses but create the 'lead in' toward the dog's actual face area. So it's the face or head of the subject that I wanted correct in this one. With the original the dog's head peers out at the viewer. That is what I wanted. Believe it or not, this dog only has three legs and is named 'LUCKY'. To me, it is a portrait of a 'Jack Russell'.
SIZE 20" x16" canvas, framed in green 3" wide flat contemporary, signed.
